I don't think people understand how expensive it is already for people trying to come to the US. The additional fees in this bill are unconscionable and the goal appears to be making it prohibitively expensive for anyone to get and keep status. 1/

I've now heard from @tomcartwright.bsky.social that the people with 1 PM appointments are all being turned away across the border and will thus not get their chance to seek protection.

Today I’ll be on the Paso del Norte bridge talking with migrants waiting for their CBP One appointments. Trump threatened during the campaign and following his victory to close the app, which has become the only means to request asylum.
