I don't think a lucky win would've done anything for Liverpool tonight, they desperately needed to put on an improved performance as well. And Arne Slot got that as his team ended up fully deserved winners thanks to the sort of controlled 2-0 win we saw so often last season.

Liverpool had the chances to win today but, if they had, it would have papered over the cracks. They don't look like champions because the summer ensured this isn't the same team that won it, and any defence of their title will be over by the time they work out all these issues.

Liverpool couldn't have had any complaints with a goalless draw given they'd managed three shots on target before Mohamed Salah's penalty, but their knack for winning games no matter what is truly ridiculous. Harsh on Burnley, but the champions go three clear at the top.
