I like toy soldiers and I cannot lie.
Materialist rather than spiritualist, bouncing along the military sci-fi edges of the universe. Rogue One remains one of the pieces of star wars cinema to center that sort of story. And it landing unevenly, and with less than the craft anyone would like, leads to different views on its sins.

We saw these at the zoo once, in the farm animals exhibit. I appreciate that their name translates as fat and round. 10/10 piggy name, no notes.

The real question is how deep is the vat at the mountain dew brewery, can we ever truly know?

It was a gross feedback loop, consumers were confused, frightened and angry. If you tried to actually help them make good decisions they’d hate it and wander off to go buy from the POS who harassed the women in the office but could make strangers like him for the time it took to do the sale.

I sold insurance for a bit, and one of the major reasons I left that is consumers are incredibly bad at making insurance decisions. The best salesmen in the office avoided policy and insurance specifics like the plague, if you tried to explain that it wasn’t magic sky money they’d go buy elsewhere.

Oh yah, The x-wing novels are my favorites, especially Wraith Squadron, but I read most of the stuff that came out before about 2005.

I don’t really mind that it’s been superseded by the movies, the 90s EU is a delightfully weird time capsule at this point.

I will defend phantom in one area, it tried to do new things with star wars. I don’t think it did those things well, but Lucas really built out the star wars universe in that film, in ways we just take for granted today.

It’s not a good movie, but I was also 11, and a star wars nut, and I liked it, at least initially. I remember attack of the clones really driving home for me how bad the movies were, there was no denying it at that point. Especially when LOTR was showing everyone how good genre works could be.

See you did the prequels wrong, the correct way to do the prequels is to be 11 in 1999. Then you can enjoy them as they are meant to be enjoyed. Everyone who didnt do this is a false star wars fan.

Jar Jar is pure distilled george lucas star wars for better and worse. Is jar jar imitating physical comedy greats like buster keaton? Yes! Is jar jar a giant leap forward for special effects? Yes! Is jar jar also some of the worst written parts of the prequels that just do not land? Yes!

Why would you negotiate with a bunch of squishes when all you need to do is wait them out? The thing the moderates can’t get their head around is that picking a fight and then surrendering is *worse* than just not picking a fight at all. Not only do they lose but now they have to vote for losing!

The real dividing line is how much player control there is. Will the pieces on the board do exactly as you tell them, or are your pieces recalcitrant gremlins that run away all the time. Players really like the former, but the latter makes for much more interesting decisions.

But also have no leverage is just dishonest. And we all know it.

You either need to be a united opposition and make republicans govern with 52 votes in the senate or you need to acknowledge that you’re actually for governing with Republicans and Trump as minority partners in the governing coalition. But this wishy washy nonsense where dems vote are clearly needed
November 10, 2025 at 3:10 PM
The issue, and you know it’s the issue. Is that Senate Dems want it both ways. They want to get credit for fighting, but also they don’t have the stomach or the will to actually fight with republicans. As soon as it gets real or scary they fold. And thats just fundamentally untenable!

I think its downstream from their propaganda . All of the inputs they consume are fever dreams, even if they know its all bullshit, there’s no incentive to take a political beating for challenging the narrative that they’re winning. The bottom may fall out in 2026, but that’s tomorrow’s problem.

More evidence that clay tablets are peak writing material. The sources it provides are just wild.
