EXCLUSIVE: So far it's been unclear what proof Rockstar Games has to justify its firing of 34 union members, who it claims were leaking "confidential information in a public forum".

PMG has now seen some of the messages which contributed to this decision being made.

It's super frustrating to watch not because of them but because the industry refuses to address it. They want to use things like AI to solve problems they helped create.
The amount of people I know who have been laid off from games industry jobs and are deciding to leave games entirely as a result is not only extremely saddening (of course), but also genuinely scary. We have lost legitimately thousands of years of knowledge and experience in the last four years.

One thing I’m loving about Godot despite not using it rn is seeing how many people are contributing or sharing their code bases making it easier for other devs to build their games

Today the British union IWGB said it has filed formal legal claims against Rockstar Games for firing 30+ employees two weeks ago, as Bloomberg first reported. Rockstar said the employees were leaking information. The IWGB calls it union-busting. More to come as the legal process plays out...

I don’t think the firing itself is the reason that being said i am concerned the delay AND the unionization are being caused by a toxic work environment
For some reason the media is not mentioning that the reason GTA6 is being delayed is they fired 40 staff over threats of unionization and now the rest of their staff are revolting

I feel like if you openly support a company having shitty conditions for its employees you don’t really have a right to complain about the quality of the-game if it turns out a mess

Problem is theres no clarification what information being leaked. Journalists hide names of whistleblowers because of stuff like this because talking about anything from information about the game to simple work culture is considered leaking.
NEW: Rockstar Games says the 30+ employees it fired last week were leaking confidential information, disputing allegations that the company is union-busting.

The union says it was a private chat with labor organizers. This messy battle isn't over yet. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Disappointing if true and concerning
This is the most ruthless act of union busting in the history of the UK games industry. Yesterday, @rockstargames.com unfairly fired over 30 employees for union activity.

We won't back down, and we're not scared - we will fight for every member to be reinstated.
BREAKING: Yesterday Grand Theft Auto VI maker Rockstar Games fired dozens of people, all of whom were involved in union efforts. A British union calls it "blatant and ruthless" union-busting. Take-Two Interactive says it was due to misconduct.
