Which leads to my ultimate wish, a stadtbahn like service for the region, a modern take on the old trolley/interurban lines.

I would love to see passenger service on the Griffin Line, it could start off as a River Line/O-Train Lines 2+4 and eventually upgraded to electric when the Hartford Line gets it done.

Would love to see the limited existing rail in Hartford upgraded to allow for at least LRT service

DOT ended up expanding the scope to include consultation with utilities. The delayed report is due to the expanded scope.

Granted the bar is in hell for transit, but any tools or resources, especially free and easy to use ones helps transit advocates to advocate.

But it got bought by Via and hasn’t been replicated. I wish it had and Subway Builder fills some of that void but still only helps folks in big American cities that already have better transit than most.

It reminds me of how folks at Remix had made Transit which allowed us laypeople to build bus networks with real data and allowed us basic folks to understand transit planning without buying software that costs too much for most people, me included

It would be great if the developer could figure out a way to incorporate LRT and maybe down the road buses so building a system in my hometown of Hartford would make sense but one can dream.

Seeing cities like my former homebase of Baltimore being added helps me find things to do through the dark cold winter

I’m basing this off watching video reviews of it (and yelling at the creators thru the screen to make better/different choices) and will buy it soon

Granted, Subway Builder is based on Spanish subway construction costs because US costs are prohibitively obscene, but I think it helps activists understand constraints and helps experts understand where activists are coming from

But what do I know, i’m just a consumer of this capitalist oligopoly.

It’s the privilege of being able to have one foot in and one foot out which doesn’t allow someone else the chance to move up.

The guest host thing is cool for the correspondents I guess but I think about how if Roy Wood wasn’t able to pivot to hosting his show on CNN or HBO or whatever I would be more irked

I’m sure that the varying electric systems don’t help between here and NYC. But that’s between God and the old railroad magnates of the day.
October 22, 2025 at 2:08 AM
But the SLE M8s dont have shoes to pick up on the third rail hence why they terminate on Stamford.
October 22, 2025 at 2:06 AM
SLE is all electric at last. I would love for CT to continue to save money on procurement by being able to leverage our relationship with the MTA on a new set of EMUs.
October 22, 2025 at 2:06 AM
I wish we could at least look at DMUs at the least if we aren’t going to electrify anytime soon.

Well we know it will cost millions and the state will have to cobble up some funding plan which gets even more difficult without federal support. But I think the cost savings over time will help but hard to make that argument with the new investment in non powered cars.
