1,000% this! I read the backlash here on Bluesky before I read the interview and was shocked in retrospect by everyone’s reactions. We need to realize we’re on the same side and that progress is the result of BOTH personal advocacy and political pragmatism in careful measure. Dial it back, folks.

This is a perspective I’ve certainly given some thought to, but never ascribed such significance. Perhaps this “culture war” really is a fight over ideology first and “simply” bettering people’s situations isn’t enough by itself. But if it’s a war of ideas they want, we can and should win.
