or emerge from the other side as something different: a warped echo of our deceased ideals or a more mature version of them, honed to withstand the trials that brought their forebears low?

MAGA only ever acts only in bad faith and for America to meet steel with steel? What will it take for us to come out the other side with our convictions intact? Will we survive this crucible? Will we be lost to a dark age of theocratic empire-building…

if it intends to rid itself of this cancer. But what’s the next move? Which principles are we willing to ignore to survive, so that we may continue on long enough to patch the many holes in our laws and conventions that led us into this situation?

What will it take to finally acknowledge that…

responsible for the events of this past year. There may not be a way to stop the MAGA Insurrection without a willingness to also work outside the rules MAGA so willingly flaunts.

California’s redistricting effort is the first and least of the transgressions America must grit its teeth and commit…

human flesh and a bunch more that have taken a few cautions steps outside their pen.
Telling the raptor eating your arm that it must stop because the shock collar will shock it when it leaves the pen doesn’t work for obvious reasons.

There is no room in a safe and just society for the monsters…

walk right through and eat the guests.

One day, a velociraptor named Donnie walked through that fence and the shock never came. Now some velociraptors are just walking around eating people.

So now you, the park operator, have two problems: you have raptors that have developed a taste for…

Please join me in a journey into a very extended metaphor.

America is the latest and greatest Jurassic Park franchise. It has invested in dinosaur pens with invisible electric fences, but to save money, has taken the batteries out of the shock collars. If they tried, the velociraptors could…

What has made America so vulnerable to the MAGA insurrection (let’s not pretend it is anything but) is that it has, from the very beginning, completely dependent on toothless laws and unwritten norms to prevent large-scale malfeasance. So much so, in fact, that most people didn’t even realize it.

Yes, we have an alternative to Trump. The problem is that our alternative is not simply deciding to reject Trump. It also means embracing an ineffectual, uninspiring political party owned by contravailing entrenched interests which can’t stop bickering internally long enough to mount a resistance.

Get on it, James! He’s weakest when his crimes are fresh in the public consciousness. If you give him time his supporters will make up justifications or Trump will cow them into submission. Do whatever it takes. Work with Massie. Make Johnson own this. Do not let up for a second! Be bold!

He’s not been offering his biased personal opinions. He’s always been very careful to speak only to the facts he can back up. If he were unfit to prosecute as AG, he’d have been unfit to be special counsel before.

What’s the move if they just continue to ignore the protests? This administration seems totally indifferent to popular opinion. We don’t have presidential recall elections. Politicians seem unwilling to call for a general strike. Do we just have to wait it out? Why are there are no remedies to this?

As though they hadn’t already given the world a million reasons to do so already.

Can’t say I agree. This is how you make a show of solidarity. People need to feel like they’re part of something. That someone has their back. Boycotts are useful, but they’re not visible enough.

What we need is a general strike and that won’t happen until people in power start calling for it. Are you willing to get it started, @govpritzker.illinois.gov?
