It seems only the Marinette is still sailing toward #Gaza. All other boats have already been—or are assumed to have been—illegally intercepted by Israeli forces, sanctimoniously claiming that it's the brave people of the #FreedomFlotilla, not them, who are breaking international law.

Despite numerous illegal interceptions by the Israeli forces, it now appears that one of the vessels of the #FreedomFlotilla, the Mikeno, is less than 10 nautical miles (less than 20 km) away from the coast of Gaza, according to the official tracker.

An entire news crew working for Al Jazeera was killed by Israel as they sought to bring the world firsthand reporting from #Gaza.

Among them was prominent journalist Anas Al-Sharif, who had been previously smeared and threatened by the IDF.

Answer by one Steve Graves from Nashville, TN: can answer this as I have been an everyday rider before. Riding a motorcycle is very risky, not because motorcycles themselves are that dangerous but because other drivers (cars and trucks) are unpredictable around motorcycles. The most common “excuse” for hitting a motorcycle is “I didn’t see them”. A rider has to be constantly vigilant about their visibility. Around other traffic, the most dangerous place that a rider can be is in someone’s “blind spot”. Going too slow to prevent this from happening is not viable as it bears other unacceptable risks. Getting run over is one of the biggest. Another way to avoid hanging out in a blind spot is to go faster than other traffic. The “much faster” of your question is a purely subjective statement so I’ll not address that part. All-in-all, “somewhat faster” carries less risk than staying in someone’s blind spot or going slower than other traffic.

Over the years, I've been surprised a few times when I learned that people who, unlike Haya Adam, didn't quite strike me as the kind were in fact graduates from my alma mater. Looks like #SOAS either changed a lot or—more likely—I never saw it for what it is.

A nonsensical false equivalence considering Gaza is the one under occupation.
Former British-Israeli hostage Emily Damari has accused the prime minister of a “moral failure” after his announcement regarding recognising a Palestinian state. Emily Damari, who was released in January after being held by Hamas for more than 15 months, says the move “risks rewarding terror” and Keir Starmer “is not standing on the right side of history”. In a statement posted on social media she says: “Prime Minister Starmer is not standing on the right side of history. Had he been in power during World War II, would he have advocated recognition for Nazi control of occupied countries like Holland, France, or Poland?
