It seems only the Marinette is still sailing toward #Gaza. All other boats have already been—or are assumed to have been—illegally intercepted by Israeli forces, sanctimoniously claiming that it's the brave people of the #FreedomFlotilla, not them, who are breaking international law.

Not sure if it said so earlier, but the menu on the left-hand side currently states 0.00 knots as the Mikeno's speed, which suggests the vessel (was) stopped. Please let at least one of them arrive...

Despite numerous illegal interceptions by the Israeli forces, it now appears that one of the vessels of the #FreedomFlotilla, the Mikeno, is less than 10 nautical miles (less than 20 km) away from the coast of Gaza, according to the official tracker.

Couldn't have said it better: Cars and trucks are unpredictable around motorcycles, and riding somewhat faster carries less risk than staying in someone's blind spot or going slower than other traffic. #motorcycle #motorbike #traffic

Answer by one Steve Graves from Nashville, TN: can answer this as I have been an everyday rider before. Riding a motorcycle is very risky, not because motorcycles themselves are that dangerous but because other drivers (cars and trucks) are unpredictable around motorcycles. The most common “excuse” for hitting a motorcycle is “I didn’t see them”. A rider has to be constantly vigilant about their visibility. Around other traffic, the most dangerous place that a rider can be is in someone’s “blind spot”. Going too slow to prevent this from happening is not viable as it bears other unacceptable risks. Getting run over is one of the biggest. Another way to avoid hanging out in a blind spot is to go faster than other traffic. The “much faster” of your question is a purely subjective statement so I’ll not address that part. All-in-all, “somewhat faster” carries less risk than staying in someone’s blind spot or going slower than other traffic.

7/7 Please note that I couldn’t quite figure out the discrepancy in the gov’t data. One source listed 391 fatalities between 2019 and 2023, another (and KOMSA’s bar chart) listed 231.
