continuing to amass touhou fangames while still not even having given any of the Proper Games a real shot feels somehow sacrilegious. i know thats like a common thing but it does feel weird if i havent even seen the like 3 lines of dialogue any of these characters probably have canonically

not to be annoying, but while they've apparently been replaced, the game did use AI voices at one point if that changes things in any way. sure gave me a bit of an ick, at least

90% of the appeal of astlibra is going from a dinky 1-2 attack combo at the start to constant uninterrupted screenfilling particle effect AoE's while vacuuming up items and coins by the dozen every few seconds. and then gaiden lets you go through that progression again but in 15 hours instead of 100

astlibra continues to be one of the most key jangling combat experiences ive ever had in a game and i say this entirely positively. doubly so if you go up against weak enemies or go back to an earlier area

within ~30min of starting the protagonist has two childhood flashbacks where it's implied he wanted to wear a ribbon & says he'd want to be reborn as a girl. first guy he meets mistakes him for one. protag barely gets any other implied dialogue after this ever again. no cis explanation for this tbh

update: final boss so nice you do it twice (both because it's Insanely Fun and also because i was like 3-4% and a couple missed tools away from 100 so i might as well do that for closure)
