Direct File was an easy way for Americans to file their taxes for FREE each year.

It's a no-brainer — and it's popular. So why in the world did the Trump administration kill it?

To give a huge handout to giant tax prep companies like TurboTax that rip Americans off.

Video footage of the incident show a group of officers detaining three men. Afterward, agents can be heard bragging and making light of the arrests, calling the use of a stun gun “funny”.

The U.S. global education budget: $1.2 billion.

Elon Musk’s federal subsidies in one year: over $6 billion.

Rubio slashed 396 programs across 53 countries—cutting off girls, refugees, and entire school systems overnight.

If this isn’t worth sharing, I don’t know what is.

For years we've heard from the right about "welfare queens" and other so-called "freeloaders" pulling one over on the government.

But actually, it's the wealthy who are the real freeloaders — pulling one over on us all by skirting their taxes.

Where is the outrage over that?

For our story on a cancer drug that costs nearly $1,000 for each daily pill, art director Lisa Larson-Walker handmade several pill-shaped ceramic piggy banks, stuffed them with cash — then smashed them with a sledgehammer in the middle of the office.

This has always been an obvious problem with their slapdash approach. You can temporarily “save money” on paper by deciding to randomly stop paying bills. But if it turns out you needed some of that stuff, it’s ultimately going to be more expensive.
NYT: One estimate finds that DOGE’s “firings, re-hirings, lost productivity and paid leave of thousands of workers” will actually COST taxpayers “upward of $135 billion this fiscal year.”
