Alaska vowed to resolve the murders of Indigenous people.

But when one nonprofit asked state law enforcement officials for a fundamental piece of data — a list of Indigenous murders they’d investigated — the state said no.

Organizers should always be encouraging bone marrow donor registration! The registry is not diverse enough which means if you are not white, it’s much harder to find a match.
Happy Halloween!!

Come join my campaign Halloween bash in the back lot of 7016 N Clark Street!

We’ve got blood donation, bone marrow donor registration, candy, Chicago dogs, and ICE whistles! Come hang from 12-6!

Every single future Democratic presidential candidate is going to be accused by the GOP of planning to demolish the White House and they’ll say, “and if we elect them, there’s nothing we can do to stop them.”
Fox News' John Roberts, reacting to White House demolition: "It's telephoto compression. So it looks like there's less left than there really is. The entire colonnade of the East Wing, it looks like, is still in shape... it really wasn't much to look at. We'll see if it changes with Pres. Trump."

Republicans argument boils down to them wanting hospitals to deny care to people who can’t prove immigration status. This would result in absolute chaos and the deaths and needless pain of millions of people, primarily American citizens

this from my piece on charlie kirk is probably the most important takeaway if you want to know why bad faith, right-wing voices in media are treated as just another set of peers

“The trend in recent years has been for the great majority of extremist-related murders to be connected to some form of right-wing extremism. That is also true for 2024: for the third year in a row, all the murders identified were tied to right-wing extremism.”

NEW: Alaska publishes a quarterly list with the names of Indigenous people reported missing — but it still doesn’t issue a list for those who’ve been killed.

When a local nonprofit requested that information, the state said no.

This was Putin’s entire theory of global politics and his main desire was always to see the US embrace it. Once again, Republicans making all of his dreams come true
This is the core proposition & selling point for reactionary thought: not that they are better, but simply that *everyone* is corrupt, everyone is a crook, everyone's just out for themselves, so you might as well get yours. That is the molten core of right-wing thought everywhere.
Sen. John Kennedy defends Emil Bove: "If everyone is corrupt, nobody is corrupt."

@padilla.senate.gov why did you not join on this?
Families in Gaza are starving to death. Meanwhile, Trump & Netanyahu are using US taxpayer dollars to replace international aid orgs in Gaza with mercenaries — leading to even more deaths.

ENOUGH.

I led 20 Senators in calling on Trump to stop supporting this barbarity:
Senate Democrats urge U.S. to stop funding GHF, resume support for U.N. food distribution in Gaza as more starve
Senate Democrats told the secretary of state they have "grave concerns" about the U.S. role in financing GHF, the main group distributing aid in Gaza.

Gaza faces a severe humanitarian crisis as Israeli restrictions on aid lead to widespread malnutrition and starvation, with hospitals overwhelmed by malnourished children.
Mass starvation stalks Gaza as deaths from hunger rise
Aid agencies warned for months that Israel’s harsh limits on food aid would bring acute malnutrition and widespread suffering to Gaza’s 2.1 million people.

I actually appreciate this article’s angle. A lot of pro-Israel people say, “if there’s chaos and violence, it’s because Hamas is stealing aid or it’s not distributed well” and those people need to understand that is a decision Israel is making to create the conditions and justification for genocide
This is such a bizarre angle. Is this really a story about a failure to address a “power vacuum” and “allow new governance structures?” Or might it more accurately be described as a story about “Israel bombed Gaza into dust and is now shooting starving civilians”?
