Yes, but also, as someone who was already 14 years old and playing FF games in 2002, I tend to find that most of the people being a bitch in your ear about how much it sucks AREN'T really from that time at all.

Watching people reflexively hate on this just cause it's trendy to shit on Kojima is funny, especially because using internal clock to advance systems ingame when the player isn't playing is something he's already done before and everyone thought it was super cool (The End).

Maybe not quite as gleeful but Luca's massacre in Ryube village in Suikoden II remains one of the most upsetting, violent and cruel pieces of dialogue I've ever seen, without ever showing any overt gore.
To this day it still makes me shiver every single time.

Man, I... sigh it's so morbid. So many years for gacha goonerbait that'll almost certainly close down in a year followed by Konami abandoning the IP again.
I am thankful for the remasters and the anime but this is like watching someone drag a loved one's corpse out of the ground.

The character designs ruined a bunch of otherwise really lovable and relatable characters in the Ryza trilogy for me as they were just straight male fanservice in a franchise very historically girly.
But I keep Falling For It™, so, OK. The designs aren't as bad as Ryza's, but nothing is that bad.

I've done a lot of thinking on what made BG3's cast resonate so much with people.
I think that they're all "I can fix them" kind of characters. But that's not new in games at all. What is novel is that you actually CAN fix them. Not the story; your choices specifically.
