I learned about the Audubon Society way before the German autobahn and there was definitely a few years there where I was perplexed by car guys’ obsession with birds

I like pronouncing patio like ratio because I think it’s hilarious and it’s a little joke for myself

META rejected an ad from the Cabrillo Festival for mentioning democracy, human rights, and gay pride. Truly evil corporation.

The café that sold the yummiest and somehow cheapest lasagna near my place closed and I’m upset about it.

Should I have expected a place that never had anyone in it and had signs everywhere saying there was a 30 min seating limit would last long? Probably not. Am I still sad? You betcha!

So glad that Handmaid’s Tale is back to remind me that they named one of the characters Joseph Lawrence

The best part of today was talking to a trumpet player about Shostakovich and he said “I should read more about Shostakovich” so I started talking about Testimony and a trombone player appeared and said “ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT TESTIMONY? That book rules” and then we had to go play Tchaik 2

Whenever I have to use the first name of a famous historical figure in writing I will always inevitably question whether that’s actually their first name.

“but like… JOSEPH Stalin? We sure about that?”

I have to make a video where I talk about things but I’ve had a light sore throat the past two days so I feel completely useless 😩

Today I almost waved at a person I’ve never met before but we follow each other on Instagram and he noticed and had basically the same reaction and it was weird for everyone involved so I’m gonna be thinking about THAT for the next week

Why oh why did I choose a profession that makes me write cover letters all the time?! 😫

“I shed the same amount of tears as I would have to pee after a half dozen beers” - Shostakovich on writing the 8th string quartet

More things need to be in cans. Aluminum is infinitely more recyclable than plastic plus soda tastes WAY better in cans. Cartons are also much better.

I love it when you’re on the subway about to get out at a stop and a bunch of people get up to go too because you all know that car is roughly where the escalator is at the station

I get so many ads that are like “we’re looking for x people over x pounds to try our x days fitness/diet challenge” and if I click on it they aren’t even offering a deal on their services, they just want me to do it.

How is that different than regular? Why should I care about your business goals?

This excellent thread reminds me of my favourite turtleneck icon: Leonard Bernstein. I suspect you could find a turtleneck Lennie example for every point in this thread.
