Writing guides, such as the Author Training Manual, suggest you should have a platform, even as a fiction author, to get published.

How does one create a platform if the reason anyone would follow an author is their writing, which, because they are unpublished, people won't know about?

Cloudflare is annoying. How many times do I have to click yes I'm human? At least there is no puzzle to solve, but what is the point, other than to discourage me from using whatever website is defended by these super hack-blocking powers.

#HorrorWritersChat
This year's nano I am doing The Murderbot Diaries meets the Barbie movie.

An evil doll won a tournament and became human. She is now the star attraction at a cafe where the baristas dress as sexy maids, but when she and her coworkers are mistreated, she becomes a vigilante.
Here we go with question one #HorrorWritersChat

Tell us who you are and what you write. If you’re doing NaNoWriMo this year, tell us about your project! If not, do you have any writing goals for November?

One more #pitdark before it closes:

Podcast the Demons Out is an origin story: Constantine meets The Good Place.

When I watched Paranormal Activity, I was curious about the lore behind the haunting, so I wrote this story. Ian and hacker girlfriend Fallon uncover the lore & gain a demonic audience.

#pitdark #PNH An excommunicated divinity student starts a horror movie podcast, but it draws a demonic audience.

A possessed listener contacts him for help. It's the legions of hell vs a sorcerer with no apprenticeship, an exorcist with no Church. All he has are his wits… & his wittier girlfriend.

If you are a writer, lamenting that #pitdark isn't happening here, post your pitch, even if you post elsewhere, too.

It might not have an impact today, but on the next cycle…

We can't overcome the network effects of twitter without a concerted effort. A little intransigence goes a long way.

Demonifuge [dih-MON-ih-fyooj]
(n.)
- Anything believed to give protection against or exorcize demons/evil spirits
-Charm/protection against demons

"If Father Karras had used a more efficacious demonifuge, the movie would have been pretty darn anticlimactic."

Where has all the attention gone?
Despite having 8.7 million followers on Twitter, NPR says “the platform’s algorithm updates made it increasingly challenging to reach active users; you often saw a near-immediate drop-off in engagement after tweeting and users rarely left the platform.”

Six Months Ago NPR Left Twitter. The Effects Have Been Negligible | Nieman Reports
The numbers confirm what many of us have long suspected — that Twitter wasn’t worth the effort, at least in terms of traffic.

baekdal.com/strategy/the... reminds me of the slate long tail article. Although this article focuses on journalism, novelists experience similar problems.
