I'll throw this out here before I try begging the dev in Twitter DMs. If anyone knows where one can obtain a copy of 時止電殻2/Toki tome-den kara 2 (C96 release from the Slugger Yamada developer) please please please please please reach out. I've found the first game on surugaya so good there.

I've noticed recently that "cozy" may have replaced "survivors" as the biggest steam game slop indicator. Though this may just be due to recent survivors games being less likely to have survivors in the title.

Silkworm clear to the infinite final stage with numbers for Calice Cup! Such an underrated game. Shockingly old feeling for 1988 but learning all the enemy patterns and how to position properly is really fun!

I don't know if nearing 30 is getting me boomerfied but I find I enjoy 80s shmups much more than I used to. So many games that feel like alternate reality versions of how a shmup should be designed and it's really charming to adapt and get used to how each game sees the future of a then young genre.

Watching a video tour of a barcade near me and fuming at this guy playing like 10 minutes of Donkey Kong and not showing what the cabinet with a Taito logo next to it is.

Every little bit I see the post about 5000 steam games not making back the $100 it takes to get the game on Steam, see comments saying it's because they're all slop, and then think of this dev message in The 1500 Year Old Forest Elf and my Anti Materiel Sniper Rifle and get sad.
