You don’t realize how starved you are for representation until you watch a show like WOT. So many crucial characters are 40+ year old women driven by power/prophecy/duty/lightvshadow and a million other things rather than strictly motherhood/family and it’s incredibly refreshing

I have talked about this with every season of Wheel of Time, but I'm going to do it again as we discuss how savvy the show-only watchers are & how they often pick up things some book readers missed.
And it's because they are letting the show tell them what the story is, and we think we know it.

Ngl episode 4 is maybe one of the best episodes of tv I have ever seen - it would shock me if the show didn’t gain traction rapidly after this

She does not play and I love how she is both self-assured and eager to learn more

I get that with only eight episodes it doesn’t make sense to devote time to her this season but hoping she pops back up soon so people remember who she is and she doesn’t feel like a new character when reintroduced

One of my fav parts of the show is how generally unproblematic it is. I feel like so many fantasy stories unnecessarily inject real world horrors (misogyny/racism/homophobia etc) into the narrative (mind you rarely with tact or nuance) and it undercuts the core appeal of fantasy- escapism
