Happy Hawaiʻi Whale Season!
Humpback whales arrive in the Hawaiian Islands every winter to mate and give birth. Newborns have little blubber and so must be born in warm waters. The whales spend their summers feeding in the cold, food-rich waters of the North Pacific. The Hawaiian name is "Koholā". 🐋

kantha is a south asian technique for recycling scrap fabric. it was originally used at a time when fabric was very precious. the technique involves attaching layers of scrap material using a running stitch (pics 1, 2 and 3). it's similar to japanese boro (pic 4).
