SUPER excited to track down former EU trade official Rupert Schlegelmich to explain – from his first hand experience negotiating with Trump during the first term – what to watch out for from Europe this time around!
Europe was largely spared from significant Trump tariffs during his first term. The world now appears to be different.

Lessons from how the EU negotiated with Trump last time, as well as how the EU's new 'anti-coercion instrument' may be put to the test today.

So the 25% #tariff on Canada and Mexico will start today. The closest experience we had to these tariffs are those imposed by Trump in 2018: largely discriminatory, possibly negotiable and hopefully temporary. I've looked the past experience to learn something @thecitp.bsky.social @uktpo.org
