Since mid April we have seen Kosovo MPs gathere for a few minutes in the Parliament every two days and not constitute the parliament. The politicians from different fronts keep repeating the same things for months and keep failing to fulfill their duties & finish the ceremony.

It has been more than one week since Kosovo Constitutional Court obliged MPs to form a new Parliament within 30 days ruling the prolongation as unconstitutional.
There is still no consensus on forming a new parliament and it is gathering every 48 hours.

On another note experts question legality of a raft of decisions taken by Kosovo’s Vetevendosje led outgoing government, which remains in office due to a failure to constitute parliament after February elections, but it claims to follow legal limitations

Kosovo MPs today have postponed the 38th attempt to constitute the Parliament until Sunday, after a meeting tomorrow with parties* leaders called by outgoing PM Albin Kurti. He called the meeting after Constitutional court obliged MPs to form new parliament within 30 days.

For 8th time, Kosovo MPs failed to inaugurate the Parliament. Vetëvendosje keeps proposing the same candidate & opposition keeps not voting her.

Kosovo MPs failed once again to vote the Parliament Speaker. Vetëvendosje, as winning party of Feb 9 elections, keeps insisting to have acting minister of justice Albulena Haxhiu. Opposition parties, PDK, LDK, AAK, have made it clear they will not vote her.

Kosovo MPs will gather for the 6th time in the last 2 weeks for the Parliament inauguration, which is stuck at electing the Parliament speaker as Vetëvendosje so far hasn't changed its candidate- acting minister of justice Albulena Haxhiu, who doesn't have opposition votes.

Another day, another blockage of the start of work of the Kosovo Parliament. While MPs finally took oath, the candidate for the Speaker of the Parliament, minister of justice during Vetevendosje's 4year rule, Albulena Haxhiu, received only 57 out of 120 votes. Let's see on next session on Monday.

The first recognition of Kosovo in more than four years came today by Kenya.
The last recognition was in September 2020 by Israel after a Donald Trump brokered deal between Kosovo and Serbia for normalisation of relations.
The only implemented article was the Kosovo Israel diplomatic relations.

Kosovo’s former President, Hashim Thaci, currently in detention at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague, was not permitted to attend the funeral in Kosovo on Tuesday of his father, who died just days after Thaci was granted a visit by the court.

Despite results of Kosovo Feb 9 elections, one thing is certain, citizens have an unprecedented sense of democracy. Preliminary data says that 40% of voters out of 1.9 mil registered ones, voted. However, Kosovo has 1.6 mil residents, so in reality ~ 80% of people in voting age, voted.

Preliminary results of Kosovo elections (99.7% of votes w/out diaspora, conditional, persons with special needs) show Vetëvendosje won with 40.84% followed by PDK 22.05% and LDK 17.67%.
So far, no party can create a government on their own.

🇽🇰 Election Complaints Pannel (PZAP) issued over 400,000€ fines to political parties for violations during the election campaign. Vetëvendosje has received multiple fines using children & inciting hatred, including one of 25,000 euros. Second highest is LDK, 20.000€.

After many issues with Kosovo Central Election Commission online system, we have preliminary data on 73% of votes which place Vetëvendosje with 41.99% of votes. PM Albin Kurti and Vetëndosje have claimed victory.
50 percent of votes are needed to form a govt.

In an extraordinary press conference Kosovo Interior Minister Xhelal Svecla said that 8 persons, related to two groups operating in the Serb-majority north of Kosovo Civilna Zastita and Brigada Sever, were arrested regarding the explosion that damaged the Ibar-Lepenc canal in Zubin Potok on Friday.
Kosovo Security Council met after midnight regarding an explosion that damaged the 'Iber-Lepenci' canal in Zubin Potok, in north of Kosovo, the third in the last 72 hours.
Water supply was interrupted. The damages were fixed with temporary tubes overnight.

Kosovo Police announced arrests after an explosion on Friday evening in Ibër-Lepenc water canal in north Kosovo damaged essential infrastructure for country’s water and energy supply, sparking international condemnation. Emergency security measures were added.
