I go by fishbowlkraken on a lot of places. 3D printer user/designer, occasional writer, aspiring mad scientist and open source wonk. Opinions mine

I'm with you a lot of the time, sometimes I just want to eat a ludicrous amount of savory foods until I'm surreptitiously googling "possible to die of cheese overdose?" Under the table

they had a whole slogan about how Obama wasn't "their" president even! Like, they specifically stated him leading the country was the condition upon which they based their loyalty to and love of the country!

I know it's not the point of the post but man I miss the laser tag places that did deathmatch so you could just go rogue and still get points. They're all team based with friendly fire off now, it's still fun but there was something rad about skulking the blacklit dungeon sniping everyone you saw

I'm just now realizing this is about electrolysis machines for hair, I've been reading this thread thinking industrial nickel and chrome plating equipment now looks like wonky tablets and feeling very confused. That said I'm now wondering if I could use the old gauge based ones for electroplating.

I dunno what it is with people who "leave the left" but it's like a switch flips in the brain as soon as they hit the "too many randos were mean to me On The Computer so I'm changing every political stance I claim to hold" threshold that makes them write like villains in a dubbed anime.

it's so good and it's hard to try and sell people on it without giving away a bunch of the fun twists!

Eh, "I often marvel" makes it sound like this is something I think about a lot, I guess it's more accurate to say whenever Block List Discourse™ comes up I'm suddenly reminded "oh yeah didn't someone add me to an 'imperialist swine' list or something? Ah well." And go back to what I was doing 😅
October 17, 2025 at 11:46 PM
I do often marvel at how many lists and things I've been added to despite me mostly posting about like, low cost Android devices and minor gripes about electronics.
October 17, 2025 at 11:25 PM
Yeah I really need to go through my Following list and shed a lot of folks, I basically hit "follow" on every starter pack I saw for a while when the feature was introduced and now I'm kinda feeling like
patrick star from spongebob squarepants is holding an ice cream cone while standing in front of a large rock .
Alt: patrick star from spongebob squarepants holding an ice cream cone while standing in front of the large rock he lives in asking a bunch of unknown characters WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!

3D printing is obviously still a thing and if anything it's easier and bigger than it was even back then, but you don't see any more printers from companies like Mattel or Dremel falling over themselves to try and enter the space like they did back then.
October 10, 2025 at 10:07 PM
3D printers had MASSIVE attention share from around 13-18, as someone who was in the industry during the rise. Companies kept insisting everyone would have one and VCs clamored over startups promising to make it the next microwave. Then the bubble popped and the hype faded.

It feels like there's an inherent optimism to the idea that a handful of Bad People are always to blame for things going wrong, instead of some online things being more of a Ouija board situation where a bunch of people who think they're not doing anything end up dragging things to unexpected places

That only makes me more interested in the project, for what it's worth!

I really hope this video takes off because I very much want to see that tiny windmill model, excellent analysis!

yeah one of the biggest problems I have when planing is getting In The Zone with it and ending up with a plank that's like half an inch under what it needed to be after I converted 20% of the usable wood into wispy curly ribbons.

Kinda surprised nobody's commented this yet but I always thought of Talia Al Ghul, given she even has a Lazarus pit strip in her hair 😅

They had an attendant who would close the pod over you when you got set up, and there were I think five or seven more pods? And then it was just a big LAN shootout for a half hour, I feel like a few more matches in one of those would fix me tbh
July 20, 2025 at 5:43 AM
Oh! I also just remembered that when I was a kid the D&B near me had a mechwarrior game where an attendant sealed you and your friends into big mech pods with projected screens on all sides, it cost a ton of tokens for no tickets and was probably one of the best video game experiences I've ever had.
July 19, 2025 at 9:27 PM
Usually a mix but a lot of that comes from the fact that I genuinely enjoy some of the ticket based games, like especially the ones where you plink coins or marbles down little obstacle courses, the physicality of them is really fun to watch and try to get the hang of. Also Skee Ball's still rad

... I do all my best spell checking right after I hit send. I have no idea how I doubled up on the S there at the beginning 😅

I've grown fond of the thumb driven trackballs that have about the same shape as the ergo mice personally. no wrist movement and increased desk space is a win in my book

Ringing endorsement for Kat, gotta say. People like Loomer are to politics what Jim Cramer is to finance, in that if you default to doing the opposite of anything they say you'll probably be fine. I was 100% on board with Kat before this, and even more confident in her now.

The only move tech bros know is trying to force an entirely new standard on people to replace an old standard, then leveraging that to try and take the majority of the market, so this seems pretty on brand imo. Stupid for sure, but that's part of the brand we're dealing with.

Been seeing A Theme today of some people saying absolutely ghoulish shit that amounts to "collective punishment is good actually and all 31 million people in Texas are an ontologically evil monolith that deserve whatever they get because Republicans won a slim majority after suppressing turnout."
