For paid subscribers: A look at how the incentives for Democratic candidate visits to Iowa are likely to change. That has not been fully explored yet. I don't know that I "fully explored" them, but I did take a typically nerdy turn into the 2028 rules as a guide. 2/2

How long will Democratic presidential contenders keep going to Iowa?
Possible 2028 Democrats keep trekking to the Hawkeye state but those visits aren't guaranteed to last. Here's why.

But RBC-adopted resolution did a whole lot more. I tackle all of it here (including the language of both that resolution and the official Request for Proposals).

And for paid subscribers, I dug deeper into some of the subtext of the RBC meeting and what it portends.

Now we know what they're looking for.
The DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee met earlier this week and passed a resolution laying out what the party wants in the 4 or 5 early states for 2028.

Of course, Frank!

And thanks once again to the party for allowing these things to be so easily followed (and commented upon!) from afar.

But I can foresee a shake up to the others with Michigan bringing up the rear before Super Tuesday. [Michigan's already there under current state law.] Path of least resistance for the RBC.

But I agree that the odds favor less change to *which* states are in the early window and more of a shift in terms of the *order* of those states.

At this time I'm bearish on the notion of Michigan going first (it's been floated). Conflicts with the party's proposed efficiency criterion.

Still, one thing that was a part of the 2024 process not listed among the 2028 criteria is something that will be as inescapable now as it was for 2024: feasibility.

But the draft resolution that will be considered later this month is a bit more robust than those August comments.

IF the conversation in question was the same episode of The Daily, then there was an oblique reference to the cowbell sketch.

...or at least I read their pointing out that Trump was playing the cowbell in the video that way. But maybe that was just me being too generous!
