I'm thinking about writing a series about my favorite reverb plugins and hardware units. Not reviews, but more meditative/poetic reflections of what different reverbs and their designs make me feel or think.

The direct financial implication of my echosophy project is that whenever @valhalladsp.bsky.social releases a new reverb plugin, I lose 50 bucks. Thanks Sean! 💸😄

I have made a new album, which will release in a couple of weeks.. It's experimental ambient drone, 43 minutes of maximalist minimalism, based around sustained A notes. It will be released on Future Sonant, a new sister label of Future Rust. Read more here: www.wuolio.fi/long-tones-a...

For my Nordic friends! The Boy Next Door, the TV drama I wrote and produced music for this spring is now streaming in Finland (Yle), Sweden (SVT), Norway (NRK), Denmark (DR) — and coming soon to Iceland (RÚV)!

If you live in the Nordics, give it a watch! Would love to hear what you think.

My online presence has been lately minimal due to being much more present offline. A new human being appeared, and me and my wife couldn't be more happy!

Two weeks ago I plugged out all my gear and made some changes at the studio. Today, before going to bed, I decided to plug them all back in. That was a mistake. Making sounds is more fun than sleeping.

We are empty, and we often try to fill our emptiness with whatever we can.

I played an acoustic concert in Iceland last Sunday. Read the full text I wrote for the concert program handout: www.wuolio.fi/concert-at-h...

When I make music, I feel like I'm trying to understand something very deeply, while being irresistibly drawn towards something else that I don't understand at all.

"By opening our ears to the world and listening closely, we become space." I wrote some words on the experience of being in space with sound (which I call sonance) and the beauty of algorithmic reverbs.

What if we are just very resonant matter and the awareness is out there, everywhere, in the world? Perhaps consciousness is a property of space itself.

We often think that when we are listening, we are perceiving the resonances out there in the world. It does make sense. Sound travels to us, after all. But Jean-Luc Nancy offers another perspective: w...

Reading Jean-Luc Nancy and Longchenpa side by side creates fascinating ideas about space!

For example: an echo is basically an observation of the espacement of resonances, or to put it simply — observing becoming space. #philsky #philosophy #echosophy

Many people seem to think that music is a type of language. But what if we’re wrong? What if language is actually a very specific type of music?

The irony of “looking for one’s true self” is that people look inward when they should be looking out in the universe.

What is a good recipe for reading? I’m currently reading 30% philosophy, 30% fiction, 10% poetry, and 30% news. That is way too much news, I’d like to limit reading news to 10% and read a lot more poetry. Poetry makes me hopeful – news mostly have the opposite effect.

I read the news today, oh boy, about greedy men in suits who blew their mind out with money and power. A crowd of people just stood and stared at their phones.

I’d like to turn on your focus and direct it to the history of anarchism and revolution.

The effect of engaging in a deep philosophical process is actually quite annoying. I'm experiencing new thoughts, changing my mind all the time, even the world looks different. But what makes me the most annoyed is the number of books I suddenly want to read. #philsky #philosophy

Last week I’ve been building a small jump in my backyard for #snowboarding. Yesterday I got to try it for the first time! More than 20 years since my active riding years but I feel just as inspired as back then! Music, philosophy & snowboarding seems to be my magic recipe!

Today, while writing about echo and memory, I came up with a beautiful concept of ”nuantic cloud” or ”nuantic window”.

A reverberant space is filled with constant returns and reflections of soundwaves, a nuantic cloud, in which we can observe the nuances of the present moment.

Sound cannot be considered without its spatial or temporal context, the context is intertwined on a physical level with how we react to soundwaves. Adding spatial or temporal effects to a sound can have a profound shift in the listener's consciousness. www.wuolio.fi/altered-spac...
