if only they calculated the real costs not just the 'profits'

fools don't realize their employees probably would spend at least some of that pay in the stores. i wish we had a more fair system.

Unfortunately, lots of kids don't have a parent at home when they get there because their parent or both parents have to work. There isn't someone available to help with reading and writing practice every day. That's why they fall behind at school.

Schools with the additional purpose of being a community resource could go a long way. If kids could stay after school, have a snack, and get practice reading and writing with teachers and peer tutors, that would change all sorts of things.
