@o2bnobx.bsky.social today I was talking to my hair cutter about bourbons. She likes Buffalo Trace. She said BT has a creamy version that she’s been unable to find. I stopped in a liquor store after & found BT BOURBON CREAM, which I bought & took to her in a gift bag. Also saw Blanton’s.

Sometimes I wonder if RFK Jr ever explored the potential of finding autism's cause here. Because studies have actually shown a connection, unlike with vaccines. This drug was given for about 3 decades before it was banned. It's an endocrine disruptor.

We’re watching The American Revolution by Ken Burns on PBS. I find it odd that all drawings and portraits of men portray them as clean-shaven. Does that strike anyone else as odd? Did they have access to razors back then? 🤷

I’m 43 and my vote for president has been utterly meaningless my entire adult life. This has been true for the majority of americans. If you want to have an engaged democracy - which I assume Tom does - making every citizen have a say in the presidency would be a massive step forward on that front
The issue isn't who gets representation, it's that once you start unwinding federalism, why stop at presidential elections? Why bother having "states" at all other than as national administrative boundaries?
And why keep the Senate at all? Why not just a giant House, proportionally elected?

A Republican neighbor of mine posted this on FB a few days ago. She works for a small company and earns good money - has a house and travels. I bet the ACA cuts are why premiums are increasing 26%. I know how most of my neighbors vote b/c I work the polls. I see how they’re registered.

Food and starving ppl have been on my mind since the gov’t shutdown & SNAP benefits are suspended. I’m thinking of donating to a local food bank. I’m unsure what to do. I could give till it hurts and not make much of a difference. Who else is stewing over the same issues & doing something about it?

@shari-in-the-sky.bsky.social Good Morning Shari. FYI, Newark EWR is a mess this morning. Using 4L for departures, 4R for arrivals. They’re taxiing on both sides of 4L. I’ve never seen so many airplanes in line awaiting departure. I’d expect some to be held at the gate.

1/3 of the people receiving SNAP or food help in this country work. Half of them work for large corporations (eg Walmart or McDonalds), that spend millions lobbying Congress to ensure they don’t raise the minimum wage. Your tax dollars go to support people that wouldn’t need it, except for lobbying.
