RPG campaign map I really need to finish. Geology based on large bolide impact event that formed the multi-ring basin on the east side of the map. Subsequent plate tectonics have warped the crater into an oval.

Yeah, I likes me some fantasy geology, I surely do...

If you decompose dehydroascorbic acid with sulfur oxides, you get the structure in the center, which breaks down to dimethyl sulfide and 2-amino-butanoic acid. But to get dehydroascorbic acid you need ascorbic acid, which is biotic.

Anyone know of an abiotic synthesis pathway for ascorbic acid?
