I think the power of a book like A CHRISTMAS CAROL is that Scrooge *realizes.*

Most Scrooges won't realize. It's a pipe dream. They can only receive consequences, after they will continue to blame everyone else until they die.

There's a bevy of posts circulating of famous sculptures with the question of WHY DON'T WE SEE THIS KIND OF TALENT ANYMORE and the answer is you don't support the arts, assholes. Those artists had patrons. They could work all day to perfect their craft without worrying about food and housing.

The main thing that is happening here is that RWA no longer has staff, and that means, basically no oversight. Everything is happening on autopilot. Nobody really looked and said “oh shit, should we promote this chapter workshop the way we do others?”

Reminder to all my girlies, but especially those raised in the faux politeness of the South: being direct is not rude. It’s not taking a tone. It’s clear, accurate communications without fake pretenses.

Everyone deserves access to romance that suits their needs with a heat level they’re comfortable with.
