Thank you to all the usual commentators who *are* saying that misogyny in New Zealand is a defining, baked in, cultural feature - who say it every single time we act surprised by behaviour that is normalised, and backed up by statistics.

We need action - so we can stop saying the same damn thing.

What would be shocking would be to see any self-reflection from media about the weeks they spend tearing women politicians apart.
What would be shocking would be to see commentary from privileged men in positions of power saying out loud misogyny is a problem - a crisis - and committing to action.

It is so disheartening to read the headlines every day, and to see it getting worse, not better.
We need to start having conversations about this being systemic, deliberate, enabled, status quo - not one bad apple, a shocking revelation.
The one constant about the headlines is they’re not shocking.
