He/Him/They/Them

Angry Internet Ghost.

I'd rather be baking. Cloudscale datacenter necromancer, TTRPG nerd, and occasional writer. Likes are not necessarily endorsements.

It never got weird enough for me.
I absolutely feel this. I'm a white collar tech worker, and I make double what my dad, a Teamster, ever made.

Were it to go up for sale again, I couldn't afford the mortgage to buy the house I grew up in.

Your monitor made me double take because at first glance I thought it was two, nice setup!

I am not the most maritime of people, but how could even a blind person confuse you for a trawler? What with the total lack of anything resembling fishing equipment. :D

For those missing context: This is Jared Isaacman, 42 year old billionaire CEO of Shift4 (Starlink's payment processor) whose sole space experience is two self-funded tourist trips in partnership with SpaceX.

Meanwhile, in the real world rather than whatever this hypothetical you've come up with is:

16 Democratic senators joined Republicans in confirming a close ally of Elon Musk as head of NASA:

That it's any of them is damning enough to the idea that the party whip has any power, or the leadership has any ideals beyond what their donors have bought and paid for.

In all due disrespect to the current officeholders:

This is a problem solved by Congress doing their constitutional duty and impeaching Presidents who commit unlawful acts.

While this guy keeps pretending it's not happening, here's another one!

3 House Dems cross the aisle to vote to make providing gender-affirming healthcare, as prescribed by their physicians, to youth a felony.

Cuellar and Gonzalez of TX and Davis of NC.

MTG's Felony National Youth Trans Ban Passes House; 3 Dems Vote For It, 4 GOP Vote Against It
The bill is not expected to pass the Senate, but marks the first time a national trans youth care ban has passed a chamber of Congress.

Biggest bit of advice: If a mask really sucks, push back on your provider to get a different one.

I went through five before I found one that worked with my facial anatomy to both give a good seal and not grind on my busted-ass deviated septum.

Welcome to the club! It's not a fun one, but I can say that if you can tolerate it through the first while, sleeping in a mask becomes mildly annoying as opposed to difficult.

In the sense that committing an act of war is in fact separate from a formal declaration of war on the part of the nation, it very much does. The president does not rule by fiat, unless allowed to do so by the shameful inaction of the legislature.
December 17, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Sure they can. They can do so by not pretending bipartisanship exists, and not voting to enable these actions by approving appointing extremists.

They will not do so because they consider decorum and their work buddies more important than the nation.
December 17, 2025 at 2:07 AM
You're a well educated person, and at one point an American, so surely you understand that the President does not, in fact, have the power to declare war?
December 17, 2025 at 2:01 AM
The minority party specifically ran on not letting this happen.

When you say you're going to do a thing, and make no effort to actually do it when it comes time to act, that is a pretty clear failure to show any kind of will to act.

The GOP has no shame or decency, so no sense appealing to it.
December 17, 2025 at 1:56 AM
Every single one is complicit.

I'm more critical of the Dems over it, but they also ran on not supporting his agenda so have more to live up to there. The GOP can get in the fucking sea, traitors all.
December 17, 2025 at 1:44 AM
It is quite literally Congress' responsibility to meet high crimes and misdemeanors on the part of the President with impeachment proceedings. They are in fact the only ones with the legal power to do so.

That they have not, with the current President openly ordering war crimes is damning.

Remember last month when they agreed to end the shutdown on the prospect of a mid-December vote on ACA extension?

The one that the GOP in the House laughed and said 'no way' to a day later?
December 17, 2025 at 1:21 AM
Profit.

No, I can't explain a clear path to *how* they would profit, but neither can any of the AI-obsessed bozos driving our economy off a cliff in support of it.
