If the Steve Rogers return in Doomsday isn't a fakeout I will be deeply disappointed. Don't we have enough people in the movie? Aren't there enough characters that are ready to make a larger name for themselves (Shang-Chi, Kamala, Billy, Bob + New Avengers) without reviving ANOTHER legacy character?

Somehow this has been the most exhausting yet least emotionally fulfilling holiday for the last several years.

Difficult to get in a festive mood while prices go up, rights get ripped away, and all the people with the strongest power to fix things are taking an early vacation.....

Bugonia was also a wild fucking trip. Every performance really hit home (but is that any surprise from Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons??) and the script, scoring, and cinematography were all excellent. The final shots are genuinely special and warrant discussion, I thought overall it was great!

I recently read Berserk (for the first time) from beginning to the most recent chapter. Reading the final chapter that Miura created was devastating, even for a newcomer like me. I look forward to seeing where the story goes, but I agree with many others that the new chapters FEEL different.

So far Silent Hill F has been a blast. Has some annoying slow-down on a standard PS5, but the game looks so good I can't be that surprised. I am loving the red herrings the puzzles are throwing at me every time and the dread factor is cranking up with every subsequent area, just as it should be.

Watched Sator recently — I can see some of what they were trying to do and it was a fun idea to tie actual, real-world family stories into both the mythos and making of the film, but BOY was the the film a snoozer. Classic way too slow-burn. Nowhere near enough payoff to make the film worth watching

Rewatched Thunderbolts* and Superman (2025) last night, and was reminded how refreshing they were among the superhero movies of the last several years.

Not a great photo, but made a nostalgic meal from the years I spent living in Saudi Arabia: Lentil Soup and Tamees (traditional Saudi bread). I lived right next to an insanely cheap lentil soup place, and could get a flat of Tamees the size of my arm and a big bowl of soup for ~$2 total. Good times!

Dead of Winter was a really surprising, thrilling experience! I knew essentially nothing about it before going in and hadn't seen a single shot of marketing, but I hope others do take a chance and go see it. Tense, smart, beautiful, and heartfelt in equal measure, with a highly satisfying ending.

Dunno if anyone has a differing opinion on this; but Resident Evil 2 (2019)? Excellent Video Game

Also saw Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale last week (after a two week binge of all 6 seasons and the other two movies). The least "movie" feeling of the three, it felt like an entire season of plotlines crammed into the runtime, which felt like an extremely fitting send off to the show!

Despite some typically misplaced humor and some very strange, choppy slo-mo sequences breaking up tense moments, the first drop of Marvel Zombies was a fun interpretation of the storyline and gave each main characters plenty of moments to shine! Shang-Chi's rings were a particular standout.
