What if we blew it up! Dynamite... I'm sure it will go better this time around!

The really interesting question boils down to the licensing model. Rather than the Seelie and Unseelie courts, we have folks fighting over licensing models.... And are changelings nothing more than an example of GNU license contamination?

"Use of Weapons" is my absolute favorite. However, I would not call it "Utopian". Or particularly cheerful. Actually, you might want to avoid it altogether. Though it's great...

"Last Call" by Tim Powers.

I have long wondered whether it will (eventually) be necessary to build some kind of digital rights management system into cameras and recording devices so that individual can prove that this content was recorded with this device. Still far from perfect (and sadly quite expensive)

That's fine. If the police decide that they are unwilling to work with Mamdani, then I'm sure that Mamdani can find better things to do with their pensions...

You would love Cologne, Germany. Their dialect is incomprehensible, their beet is close to water, but the glasses are tiny!
November 15, 2025 at 7:27 PM
These are all dated, but ~ at that age I loved the following series "The Mad Scientists Club", "Henry Reed Inc.", and "The Great Brain"

Personally, I think that the best individual books have been in the Star Trek / Star Wars space. Data mining Archive of Our Own is probably your best source of information regarding what properties are popular.

The real question is "who in their right mind flies Dublin --> CDG when there are direct flights?" "Never transfer in Heathrow" is one of the most basic rules of travel.
November 11, 2025 at 3:42 PM
If Noah Smith is too stupid to understand how to book a direct flight from Dublin to CDG then I'm not at all surprised that navigating Heathrow well beyond him. (Isn't "never change planes in Heathrow" one of the most basic rules of travel?). And how many times did he need to say "South Asian"?

Up until 1943, Rhode Island had a secret pocket veto...

For me, at least, there's a small number of writers / directors / producers who are so good that they "make" a movie near must see. The Coen brothers are in this category. Rian Johnson. Tarantino (perhaps). Movie stars, particularly those who a choosy - can provide a useful signal.

I've always thought they need to do a remake of "The Breakfast Club", but set at a Jedi Academy. The Ally Sheedy character would be a wookie. Vernon and Bender are both Sith...

The "Stakhanovite worker hero" is back, baby!
