The roots of today are buried deep in September 11th. My husband fretted over the creation of Department of Homeland Security. It stretched out (barely noticed) into each state government.
Tearing it out root and branch will be like eliminating kudzu.

We “modern” peoples insist on believing our ancestors were dumber than us. Like they couldn’t figure out specialization and gathering in one area protected by numbers and geography would be a good idea.
