It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

Most likely not, Fetlife is full of guys like that who continue to act like that well into their 60s and 70s. Once they latch on to an excuse, they'll stick to it until something breaks before even vaguely thinking about recalibrating themselves.

once again "ai" is just many underpaid overseas contractors in a trenchcoat and every once in a while sam altman pretends to be scared of its awesome power in order to drum up more funding
So apparently, it may turn out that The Wizard of Oz at the Las Vegas Sphere wasn’t entirely made in AI and Google threw the VFX crew under the bus by claiming it was all done by artificial intelligence.

If true, then fucking yikes.

No one wants to hear this, but it’s true. Either we can value education — not for a select few but for anyone willing to put in the effort — and provide the requisite resources, or we can watch it become a pursuit available only to an elite minority, with everyone else getting a cheap facsimile
There simply is no substitute for the time-, personnel-, & $$$-intensive way of providing quality education. That we don't want to pay for it, as a society, does not make this any less true, & AI cannot fix that. At best, it can poorly substitute for the real solution.

Sure we could reduce the student to teacher ratio, and create an education system that we know works for students. But that would cost money, so bring in the slop.

No one is going to care about this post. It’s 2AM and it’s way too niche - but if I hear one more local newsperson say, “flooding like this only happens once every 500 years,” which is not true and completely mischaracterizes how probability thresholds work in modeling, I’m gonna fuckin lose it.

New from me: LinkedIn quietly removed references to deadnaming and misgendering from its hateful content policy this week. The company says it's underlying rules have not changed but advocates say it's part of a trend to loosen rules meant to protect vulnerable users.

oh, no, this is so accurate
Someone on here compared AI produced material as "digital asbestos " which in a few decades' time we will have to work out how to eradicate from the fabric of research.
From my own academic research, even pre LLMs there was a huge danger of zombie factoids that begin in a respectable publication by mistake and then get reprinted for decades because no one is backtracing to the original source. Once bad info gets into the system it can take years to clear it out.
