one of the things I like about 1980s rpgs is when you can see the author's nerd fights embedded in the rules, like how awesome a particular gun is or why one martial art is supreme

Making a videogame is that split second moment where a cup of tea gets knocked off a table and you don’t know if you can catch it or not, but you lunge anyway because what else are you going to do? For years at a time.

In 1771, historian Catherine Macaulay burned herself out so badly writing the fifth volume of her recent history of England that she spent four months eating ice cream and bathing in the sea to recuperate.

My thread of
Video games I want to see but not quite seen them yet:

A survival crafting horror game set in the post apocalyptic zombie world which doesn’t rely on MMO. Based upon actual real world town and city plans. Just imagine trying to forage & survive in a city you recognise?

So I’ve sold over 5000 copies of COLOR TASTE TEXTURE in the year it’s been released, which is fantastic.

Hopefully it will make it likelier that the publisher will buy the follow-up, even though I’ve still got to sell tens of thousands more before I earn out. 😭

Come on, a copy for Autistic!

one of the baseline assumptions of 1980s rpgs (and we really need some names for the different rpg eras) is that you were likely to put the number of hours into the game that a really dedicated online gamer might today. Like, years-long games, playing weekly or more

I feel like Cinema Sins style criticism has metastasized into this idea that stories are windows into alternate universes that need to be logically coherent above all else and I hate it so much

One of my favourite things about almost all modern stories that revolve around Greek mythology is that they have to go out of their way to make the Olympian gods seem less unsympathetic to explain as to why in the hell anyone would give a shit about these people or fight for them
