If new data centres add 71 TWh of energy demand, that means an increase in water demand of ~135 billion litres per year.

Adopting circular economy strategies for water management should be the enabler.

Data centres to be expanded across UK as concerns mount
The number of data centres is set to jump by a fifth in the coming years, figures seen by the BBC suggest.

Delighted to be working with Northumbrian Water, Waterwhelm, AtkinsRéalis, SSE Thermal & others to deliver high purity water from treated final effluent using waste heat. The recovered water will be reused in industry, thereby reducing fresh water demand & demonstrating a circular economy approach.
Researchers from Bath’s Water Innovation and Research Consortium (WIRC@Bath) will lead the first large-scale demonstration of a technology to create ultra-pure water from wastewater after winning major funding from UK water regulator Ofwat.

The UK will waste 8 million chocolate eggs this Easter, which is about 10% of what is purchased over the counter.

This has a water footprint of about 38.4 billion litres, equivalent to roughly 15,360 Olympic swimming pools worth of water.

About 80% of micropollutants come from pharmaceutical or cosmetic use, so why should the manufacturers of such products not pay towards wastewater treatment?

Who should pay for urban wastewater treatment?
The pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries have gone to the EU's court to challenge a directive that requires them to finance at least 80% of urban wastewater treatment. #EuropeNews

Yesterday marked #WorldWaterDay, and we're celebrating what happens when you give rivers the room to do what they do best.

Making #SpaceForWater can take many forms - from reconnecting floodplains and establishing wetlands, to rewiggling watercourses and planting trees.

Climate change is making water more scarce, more unpredictable, more polluted or all three.

We must adapt water management so that people and ecosystems can survive and thrive in a changing world.

How does water mitigate climate change?

Safely managed water & sanitation systems reduce greenhouse gases from human waste.

Water is also crucial for clean energy generation.
