Conversely, the occurrence of cold days (high temp < 32*F) in traditionally cold cities such as NYC and Boston will be on the decline, as well. Even lower emission scenarios show a significant decrease in cold days in both cities by 2080. (3/)

Modeled here are projections for Phoenix, AZ (left) and Las Vegas, NV (right) depicting days above 105*F. Historical data is monochrome, while low emission and high emission projections are red and blue, respectively. Even lower emission scenarios show a notable increase in 105F+ days per year. (2/)

The 18z GFS is showing some insane snow totals in early February as a parade of systems marches across the PNW and NorCal. This obviously won't happen, but one can dream 🥹❄️ #orwx #wxsky #pnw

Winds are CRANKING here at my house in NW Reno. A nearby weather station reported an 87 mph gust. It sounds like there is some wind damage as I have heard shingles flap and fences creak. Wow! #nvwx

I am more privy to believe the CDC's data, because it is reported by all 50 states and updated continuously. The difference in data collection got me curious, and I curated a state map of heat-related fatalities in all states during 2021; both from the CDC and NWS. The results are surprising.
