1/ CBC & @antihate.ca released some excellent reporting on a neo-Nazi gathering in Vancouver on July 26. This thread covers more local context & organizing.

To start, here is one very interesting Facebook friendship between Exiles of the Golden Age's Lane Pommer & MP Aaron Gunn.

Universal Ostrich was one in a line of BC movements that leveraged conspiracies to radicalize & grift.

Whether it's wildfires or water licenses or avian influenza, rural communities bear the brunt & become a quirky backdrop rather than humans grappling with right-wing extremism.
1/ It's ostrich time & this is what I'm going to cover:
➡️Framing this in the far-right context is important
➡️The poisoning of public responses to public risks is one of the greatest threats from the far-right
➡️Radicalization thrives when claims are repeated without examination

Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

The white supremacy coming out of One BC is a real problem & I expect the NDP to push back. Instead, they employ language like "real people" to describe one side of a legal dispute, profoundly dehumanizing Indigenous people & Indigenous rights.

Jim McMurty, a far-right "activist" & newest member of OneBC, shared a fake letter meant to drive fear & uncertainty around land title in the City of North Vancouver.

The Tl’uqtinus decision is emboldening hysterical racism. Loud anti-Indigenous voices live in North Van. It's so embarrassing.

At this family friendly event, a lady in an SUV tried to drive through the crowd because her daughter had to get to a soccer game and refused to do a u-turn. This is exactly what we mean when say drivers are entitled in this city. Unreal.
Large turnout today in support of traffic calming on 16th. People shouldn't fear for their safety in their own neighbourhood. Now it's time for the city to act.
