This is how I feel about gender.
i am going to clarify my post on gender because it is important to make some distinction. keep in mind this is just MY preference and other buckaroos can trot their trot. the simple explanation is i casually prefer buds to assume my gender, but on technical forms to ask AND GIVE OPTION TO OPT OUT

Charles Tingleson is my Roman Empire.
thinking back to when i accidentally signed legal name on a chuck book. i spent so many dang years writing my legal name at UNMASKED signings that it just fell out. had to trot out a 'oh dang looks like this book has a printing error lets get you a new one' and awkwardly replaced the book. so funny

1. We need to fight hard for a good ACA extension early in December and hold Republicans fiercely accountable if they betray everyone.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

My spiciest politics take is that every election should have a robust primary even if you like the incumbent.

Ventura Highway just came on and I started singing Someone To Call My Lover. That's exactly the amount of gay that I am.

In general, I think most people firmly believe bad things won't happen to them. It's why people fight homeless shelters. People think that they're are "reasons" "those people" end up there.
Part of the reason I think there isn’t as much pressure around stopping ChatGPT re: suicide/psychosis as compared to stuff like Panera Lemonade is because people are inclined to blame it on mental illness versus the tech, a kind of victim-blaming mentality that fits neatly into just world fallacy

My local coffee shop recently pivoted to playing mainstream country all the time and it is hateful.

No it’s important to listen to this. Because then you understand that many of them will do ANYTHING to keep power. Remember Musk got involved in the 2024 election after saying to Tucker “if she wins” I am definitely going to prison.

So we need to move knowing that nothing is off the table for them.
Steve Bannon: If we lose the midterms and we lose 2028, some in this room are going to prison, myself included.

Not only should you not buy a Tesla. You should get rid of one if you have one. You should not be on Twitter. You should not use Starlink. Put negative dollars into his pockets.

To put this in scale, Elon Musk's salary from Tesla alone could fund the SNAP program for the entire country into 2034.

To the right, a lost election is proof either of an unfair election or that someone ought to lose their right to vote. Alan discusses the latter today
Some on the far right want to repeal the 19th amendment. Many more share a coercive, patriarchal view of women.

I wrote about this and how the far right sees subjugating women as key to building the sort of electorate they need to win. @liberalcurrents.com

FBI urges agencies to ensure officers clearly identify themselves and cooperate when civilians ask to verify an officer’s identity—including by allowing calls to local police

At this point the ADL is functionally making America less safe for everyone.
The Anti-Defamation League is launching an "initiative to track and monitor Mamdani administration policies." They did not do this when the Heritage Foundation, which is directly staffing and writing policies for the Trump administration, defended neo-Nazis.
