Christ, I hope the Arrowhead devs that are ready to work the weekend are compensated adequately, and I hope even more that it doesn’t come to that at all. I get that Helldivers is in a rough spot but this sounds like some extreme community appeasement!

Haven’t made much progress on the old avatar but decided to power on and finish his head, which I’m really happy with, especially the face! But the plume was a bit nightmarish (painting white continues to be the bane of my life) and this is a rare case of me deciding to paint the gems “properly”

8 - ehhh Orbital was fine. It’s well-written, clearly thoroughly researched, and thought-provoking, but gets quite repetitive (hey, like an orbit) and tedious by the end. I feel like it tries to cover a lot but actually does little.

Realised that I should post WIP warhammer pics on here rather than just finished models, so here’s my currently headless Avatar of Khaine painted with a molten effect, which was stupidly hard - my brush control ain’t that good - but at least I can move onto the armour

7 - Having heard that the opening trilogy of the Horus Heresy gets less good with each book, I enjoyed False Gods a lot more than I thought I would. Definitely lost me a bit in the final third but still good overall. Galaxy in Flames beckons!

Thought Dead Take was an interesting time - short and sweet, spooky, subject matter rarely covered in games - but I can't shake the "look at my cool actor friends!!" vibe. The cast is great and put in good performances, but all I see is Critical Role + video game BAFTA darlings (pic unrelated)

6 - Another astronomy book and this one was pretty good. Nice and easy to understand and exactly what I was after contents-wise, but the writing style is a bit simple at points. I’m learning that writing non-fiction in a way that is comprehensive, accessible, and engaging is actually really hard!

5 - Horus Rising was unexpectedly excellent. I had heard good things from friends but I’m really surprised with how much I enjoyed it after struggling a little at first. Definitely going to to keep going with the opening trilogy (though have heard they’re not as good sadly)
