New Kirk has been growing on me. Although I have had to get past the slight resemblance to Jim Carrey's Kirk from that skit on In Living Color. 😄

The 2009 film did bring in new fans. Overheard a woman on their phone in a restuarant at the time raving about what a positive future it portayed. Thankfully they didn't mention any spoilers as I hadn't seen it yet.

Studio schenanigans dragging things out years did not help. The only reason they ever wanted to bring Kirk's dad back from the dead is because Thor played him. And Strange New Worlds is laying the tracks for Kirk getting in the big chair.
