The one thing social media needs less of: bots and faceless accounts. A great check on cruel speech in the public square is the recognition that freedom of speech does not equal freedom from consequence. Say it with your chest.

People are all for cutting government spending until the ultra rich want to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and replace it with private alternatives of their choosing that will line their pockets.

I think social media is at its best when real people are able to share in community, keep up with friends, and connect through common interests. My X feed has devolved into an echo chamber of anger and grievance. It’s not a public square, it’s a public lynching of decency.
