Once upon a time I used to handmade (not lasered) wood-burned plaques from plank to finish. Lots of my commissions were Battletech related. Purpleheart was my favorite wood to work with, made the Marik plaques unreasonably cool.

Does anyone hear remember a game called Assault Tech 1: Battletech? It was created by MekTek to serve as a remake to Mechwarrior 2, until PGI got the rights to make the Mechwarrior games. AT1:BT was later converted into Heavy Gear Assault.

I miss MekTek. I respect them for making a free version of MW4 which allowed people to play as the Mechs from IS an Clan MekPaks. I also appreciate how they tried to revive Heavy Gear through Assault, despite what happened to it. I wish these guys could make a comeback someday.

If there is one game I miss, it is called Heavy Gear Assault. As a kid, I played both Heavy Gear 1 and 2. Given the fact that the game was made by MekTek, the guys who made the MekTek version of Mechwarrior 4. When I heard they got screwed by a scam company it broke my heart.

In the early 2000's before Sarna was a thing, two sites that drew me into the BattleTech lore were Patrick's BattleTech Archive and WarhawkPPC. Although the latter drew me in due to its style and music. Does anyone else remember these sites?
