If you think Establishment Dems are doing a great job, you're going to love Mikie Sherrill

Utter contempt for the First Amendment as lead sponsor of TikTok ban. Used to get Elon Musk donations. New Jersey could have done so much better
Sherrill will take on Republican Jack Ciattarelli, a former state lawmaker and 2021 Republican gubernatorial nominee who has the backing of President Donald Trump.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill is New Jersey Democrats' pick for governor
Rep. Mikie Sherrill's win means women candidates will lead 2025’s two biggest statewide elections.

Whatever the result of the NJ primary (I am seeing some reports already that Sherrill has won) I would like to thank @stevenfulop.bsky.social for running a really positive, inspiring, policy-focused campaign!!

Incredibly proud to be a volunteer on this campaign. NJ has the opportunity to become one of the first states to follow through on the promise of progressive ideas, but machine-backed candidates like @mikiesherrill.bsky.social just mean more if the same

@stevenfulop.bsky.social you’re our only hope
Today, Sherrill going negative on us. First time in the campaign. This only proves our team’s hard work with volunteers have them scared. Here is my response to what she said below. I’ll debate her every day of the week 1-1…. We stand by our response:

Phenomenal write up explaining (maybe) the biggest misconception people have about economics: that building housing in cities leads to higher rents
I am going to have a goddamn aneurysm with the amount of unsubstantiated and data-free folk economics that people are pushing on housing and real estate markets in the run-up to this year's mayoral election.

Empirical economists have shown time and again the following:

A 🧵...
"Journal Square isn’t a wealthy area. It’s home to working-class people. And now, rising in the heart of it all, is a building that doesn’t reflect the people who actually live here."

If nothing else, this shows how little Trump/Republicans/most Americans at this point understand the value of collective global security.

They act like the world is a zero-sum, every country for themself competition.

Democrats have been caught defending norms for their own sake.

Something is only worth defending if it makes people lives better and traditional NJ democratic politics has failed to do that. I want a fighter in my next Governor @stevenfulop.bsky.social!
From the debate - democrats need to be fighters. Appointment of the next state Supreme Court judge - a place where we disagreed last night at the debate. I feel strongly that the others were wrong here.

Watching the Democratic Primary debate for Governor of NJ is wild because on the one hand, this is one of the more substantive policy debates. But on the other hand there are 644 people watching

Don’t let Team Fulop get hot!
For ppl following the Governor’s race in NJ - NJ Elec published this on Friday for last quarter after reporting

We’re building something special + I’m proud of what we’ve done together. We have more work to do

If you look at any normal indicator of a health of a campaign we rank #1 or #2…

Proud to be a part of this campaign
Just finished Saturday morning Fulop For Governor campaign event. Talk about a group willing to come out at 9am on a Saturday to talk about the future of NJ! We’re growing and building something different that doesn’t rely on the political bosses

Democrats for too long have been beholden to the establishment and party leaders who are in charge simply because that’s the way it’s always been.

Republicans on the other hand were willing to completely remake their party in the pursuit of power and have done so with great success.
Finishing the job. Andy Kim’s lawsuit started the demise of these political bosses in NJ but we never got to see it through bc Tammy Murphy dropped out. This gubernatorial election we will finish the job, beat them, and change NJ permanently. Why? This will come down to a choice election
January 13, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Candidates like Sherrill and Gottheimer are why “blue state” constituents are always upset with their “blue state” governments.

They are high profile local officials propped up by the machine and win general elections because they have a D next to their name
This is Cowardly - Mikie + Josh the same again. If you don’t have the courage to vote then what does that say about courage to lead as Governor. What does it say about willingness to stand up to political bosses to charge NJ? If you can’t vote what does it say about core convictions- cowardly.
