Anyone thinking that the Canada-US relationship is just going through a rocky period needs to read the effing fine print. They are hostile to their own people, ergo hostile to anyone, inc Canadians. They are no longer an ally. Decades of trust gone in less than a year.

A friend’s child died today. My heart breaks for her. I feel helpless. I can make food and offer love and an ear to listen and arms to hold her. But I wish I could do more.

Son (21) is on the phone with daughter (23) and she is giving advice about university, courses, credits, life, the universe and everything. I love that he phones her when he needs to talk.

Planned on having left over soups (borscht and grouse-vegetable) and grilled cheese for supper with the 3 of us. Then 2 more family members invited themselves over. And then another cousin came round. Instead of making more food, we just all ate less and shared the wealth. Happy Thanksgiving
