Aardwolves sit on one of the most unique branches of the hyena evolutionary tree.

They split early from the other hyenas and evolved a totally different lifestyle, swapping bone-crushing jaws for delicate teeth adapted to harvesting insects.

Have you ever seen one of these before?

This is an aardwolf, and despite the name, it’s not a wolf, a coyote, or any kind of dog.

It’s actually the insect-eating outlier of the hyena family, closer to spotted and striped hyenas than to any canid.

Bonobos and chimpanzees may look similar, but their societies couldn't be more different.
While chimps are male-dominated, bonobos are female-led and resolve conflicts through social bonding.

Both species are critically endangered!

You think this is a chimpanzee? Think again.

This is actually a bonobo – one of our two closest living relatives, and one many people have never even heard of.
We share over 98% of our DNA with both chimps and bonobos, yet bonobos remain far less known to the world.

Did you know there are 4 living subspecies of cheetah?

They once roamed across Africa, the Middle East, and into India.

Today, three subspecies remain in Africa, and the critically endangered Asiatic cheetah survives only in Iran with fewer than 50 individuals left.

You probably know the cheetah - the world's fastest land animal.
But did you know that cheetah cubs have only a 10% survival rate in the wild?

This is very low compared to other big cats, mainly due to predation by other predators during their first few months.

These antelopes live only in a few mountain forests, and fewer than 100 remain in the wild!

It’s one of Kenya’s most endangered species.

Is this a momma Leopard, Jaguar... or maybe a Cheetah?

If you're not sure, you're not alone. These three spotted cats confuse a lot of people.

But there ARE clear ways to tell them apart, and once you know them, you'll never mix them up again.

But it's not the only one. Some animals take an incredibly long time to bring their young into the world.

The Deep-Sea Octopus holds the record at 4.5 years, while Asian Elephants carry their calves for up to 22 months.

And they spend most of their lives buried in the ground, waiting for prey to pass by.

These round amphibians may look like they're all mouth, and that's exactly why their name: Pacman Frog (Horned)

Despite their compact size, they can eat prey nearly as large as themselves, and they're surprisingly aggressive for a frog!
