Is this a..wolf? Coyote? or maybe a Wild dog?

Not quite. Meet the jackal.

Jackals are small, sharp-witted canids found across Africa and parts of Eurasia. They’re opportunists through and through: hunters, scavengers, survivors.

Is that cheetah trying to hunt?

The African savanna is full of moments like this, where predators and herbivores share the same space, constantly reading each other’s moves.

It’s one of the most complex ecosystems on Earth!

Dolphin… or something else?
Not quite. Meet the porpoise
This is a finless porpoise, one of the few cetaceans without a dorsal fin.

They’re some of the most under-the-radar whales on Earth.
And also some of the most threatened.

Cat or dog?
Nope. Meet the genet.
Often called a “civet cat”, but it’s not a cat at all!

Genets belong to an older carnivore family.
Long tail for balance, sharp claws for climbing, and a body built for night work.

Meet the rarest wolf on Earth: the Ethiopian wolf.

Fewer than 500 remain in the wild.

Meet the Red Fody!
Native to Madagascar, it has also been introduced to several Indian Ocean islands and parts of Africa.

During breeding, males become vivid red to attract mates and signal dominance

Once the season ends, they moult back into a dull brown!

Have you heard of one of the greatest migrations on Earth?

Every year, more than 2 million animals including wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, move in a vast loop across the Serengeti and Maasai Mara.

It’s literally a living system in motion!

Meet one of Australia’s most iconic backyard reptiles: the Blue-tongue Lizard.
And yes, they have a bright blue tongue.

They flash it at predators like a warning sign: bright, unexpected colour that says “don’t mess with me.”

Hawai‘i is one of the world’s most isolated island chains , thousands of kilometres from any continent.

Because of that isolation, evolution went a bit wild here. More than 90% of Hawai‘i’s native species are found nowhere else on Earth

Get to know them:

Meet a local from Hawai‘i! The Scarlet Honeycreeper, also known as the ʻIʻiwi.

Its long curved beak fits inside the native flowers. But no its range is very limited.

Because they can’t survive malaria, and when mosquitoes were introduced, their range shrank!

We just came back from Amed, in Bali.

And yes, we made friends with the locals, like this friendly wild sea turtle, just cruising the reef, holding her breath, and navigating the ocean like she’s been doing it for millions of years.

I don’t think most people realise how huge these birds are in real life.

Meet the Somali Ostrich, one of Africa’s biggest birds, and one of its most endangered.
Males can tower over 2.7 metres tall and weigh more than 130 kg.

No, it’s not AI. Those massive ears are real.

Can you tell what type of wolf this is?

This is the Mexican Grey Wolf, the rarest wolf in the Americas, once reduced to just 7 surviving animals in the wild.

They’re tiny compared to other wolves, but incredibly resilient.

This is the Little Penguin, also known as the Blue Penguin.

They’re the smallest penguin species in the world and live along the coasts of southern Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand.

Is this a crocodile?
Nope, it’s a gharial, a fish-eating specialist with a long, narrow snout built for speed in the water.

They’re critically endangered today, surviving only in a handful of rivers in India and Nepal.

This is a bushbaby, also known as a galago.

They're small nocturnal primates found across Africa with huge eyes for seeing in the dark and crazy powerful legs that let them jump over 2 meters in one leap.

Have you ever seen one of these before?

This is an aardwolf, and despite the name, it’s not a wolf, a coyote, or any kind of dog.

It’s actually the insect-eating outlier of the hyena family, closer to spotted and striped hyenas than to any canid.

You think this is a chimpanzee? Think again.

This is actually a bonobo – one of our two closest living relatives, and one many people have never even heard of.
We share over 98% of our DNA with both chimps and bonobos, yet bonobos remain far less known to the world.

You probably know the cheetah - the world's fastest land animal.
But did you know that cheetah cubs have only a 10% survival rate in the wild?

This is very low compared to other big cats, mainly due to predation by other predators during their first few months.

This is the Mountain Bongo.
One of Kenya’s rarest large mammals, and one many people have never even heard of.

These antelopes live only in a few mountain forests, and fewer than 100 remain in the wild!

It’s one of Kenya’s most endangered species.

Is this a momma Leopard, Jaguar... or maybe a Cheetah?

If you're not sure, you're not alone. These three spotted cats confuse a lot of people.

But there ARE clear ways to tell them apart, and once you know them, you'll never mix them up again.

Meet the Alpine Salamander.

It may look like just another amphibian, but did you know they have one of the longest gestation periods in the animal kingdom?
Their babies take 2-4 YEARS to be born.

Yes, you read that right, up to 4 years of pregnancy.
