It's heartbreaking to think we do everything in our power (as do 10's of 1000's of volunteer rescuers & carers around Australia), to save native wildlife, & yet this kind of thing is happening deliberately. Add habitat loss & it's like fighting insurmountable odds. It won't deter us though.

Thanks heaps. We love what we do. We're just in the process of upgrading our website and there's various tweeks that need to happen. I'm aware that we have our facebook link up but haven't put Bluesky up yet. Will check on that & let you know. Suggestions are much appreciated.

I'm allergic to ticks. Got several small ones a few years back & then one huge one on my head. Made the mistake of pulling it out & my entire head, swelled up like a medicine ball=cumulative effect. Looked like something out of Grimm TV show. Doctor & pharmacist had never seen anything like it

Two tips for both. Bug grrr Off is an excellent natural tick/leach/mozzie deterrent = Lemon Eucalyptus based. Really works. Also Bushman NATURAL. If you get a tick, Lyclear will kill it=scabies ointment. Don't pull out the tick, just smother it with Lyclear, apply bandaid, wait till tick dies.

I didn't know that. Can Wedgetail Eagles do the same? Two of my favourite Aussie Birds.

BTW, you mentioned the urban conservation starter pack. I couldn't find it under that name on the Starter Pack directory. Found Urban Ecology & Conservation. Is that it? blueskydirectory.com/starter-pack...

The Great Horned owl is a truly magnificent looking bird. Closest we have in Australia is the Powerful Owl. A fearsome predator who lives up to its name. 58-67cm (22-26inches) tall, wingspan up to 1.4mtres (4.4 feet).

I ( as is @lucyparkerpaul.bsky.social ) am part of the Powerful Owl Project in Australia run by Birdlife Australia that aims to monitor breeding success (mostly in urban city environments), promote their conservation and educate the public. (thanks for the urban conservation starter pack!)

They're magnificent looking owls. We don't have anything quite that stunning in Australia but plenty of cute owls. The powerful owl lives up to its name though. Probably the most feared are these fellas👇=Humble Magpie. They're notorious dive bombers. Very intelligent & fearsome
