Wow, we lost billions of Native Animals during 2019/20 fires & after, due to habitat loss, & since then at least 1.5Mil per year on average are killed, because they're in somebody's way? #Criminal

@wildlife-rescue.bsky.social is well worth a follow. They can use all the help they can get. #auspol

Unconscionable. Australia has so many wonderful and unique critters, it just breaks my heart that so many are in trouble -- and because of humans. 💔

in spite of the fact that Australia has one of the highest extinction rates globally, >4.5Million of our Native Wildlife have been legally killed from 2021-23.

Forrest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo.
Been working on this image for a while. I hope it captures the personality of the cockatoo?
These birds are fun to photograph they love to chew! Chewing helps sharpen their beaks makes a huge mess on the ground when they decide to do some “pruning”

They're magnificent looking owls. We don't have anything quite that stunning in Australia but plenty of cute owls. The powerful owl lives up to its name though. Probably the most feared are these fellas👇=Humble Magpie. They're notorious dive bombers. Very intelligent & fearsome

Impressive photo. I recently took a call from a farmer, re: Wedgetail downed by winds in Vic w/injured wing. Local vet advised him to bring it to the surgery but he wasn't game to go near it, so he called us. Found a raptor expert nearby. Farmer happy, Wedgetail in good hands. Happy ending #Wildoz

A controversial proposition that Conservationists might have concerns about. Captive breeding to boost dwindling populations & reintroduce captive-born individuals back to the wild is vastly different to keeping endangered wildlife as pets #wildoz #auswildlife

Could keeping native species as pets save them from extinction? Here’s why it’s not that simple
Why can’t you keep a wombat or koala as a pet rather than a cat or dog? There are good reasons why keeping native animals as pets isn’t as easy as it seems
