And the Israeli right would argue that they, too, are taking lessons from the Holocaust, it's just that their lessons aren't "Don't persecute minorities under fascism," but "the world doesn't care when Jews die, and antisemitism is eternal and unchanging."

A lot of non-Jewish leftists suggest Israel needs to "remember the Holocaust," as if the clear moral lesson from the Shoah is a universalist anti-genocide moral lesson. One can just as easily argue the opposite: That there is too *much* traumatic focus on the Holocaust in Israeli cultural memory.
