Of course there were.
The circumstances were unprecedented.
The table below gives clear information on excess deaths in which England alone seems to excel.

During Covid one particular process reassured worried Scots that crisis was being handled as well as it could be by devolved ScotGov without powers WM possesses - daily briefings on TV by FM Sturgeon. Pressure by Jackie Baillie MSP and his Lardship George Foulkes helped to have these *stopped*.
